> Recruiting for Board Openings   (posted Jul 3, 2015)

We are in need of some extra help for your newly elected Deer Lodge Board of Directors.
After work assignments and allocation of director positions for 2015-16 were done, there are still some open positions to fill :
1) The first opening is that of Director of Associate Leagues.
This is an ongoing support function for our Associate (rental) leagues and involves :
- the update, distribution and tracking of the rental contracts
- handling requests for changes in ice contracts or schedules
- collecting Curl MB affiliation information data from our leagues
- working with the Chair of Entertainment committee to organize the annual Associate Leagues Night event
- requires some word processing and spreadsheet skills using existing files from previous years
- This season's rental league contracts have already been prepared and distributed to league representatives
2) The second opening available is for the  Chair of Promotion & Publicity committee.  It is the first step through the progression of chair positions leading to the President’s job.  The progression is from Promotion & Publicity, followed by Chair of Entertainment, next onto Chair of Membership & Draw, then Chair of House & Finance and finally, President.
The Promotion & Publicity Chair responsibilities include:
- securing advertising for arena walls and in the ice
- securing advertising for the DLCC Roster booklet and website
- working with other Chairs and rental leagues to promote events and to recruit new curlers.
- participating in the Entertainment committee as Vice chair
This position requires some word processing and spreadsheet skills using existing files from previous years
3) A third opening is that of Webmaster.
This is an ongoing support function for our Deer Lodge website and involves :
- collecting news, curling schedules/results, photos and other digital content from Board members and rental league representatives
- creating and updating DLCC web pages with the above content on our internet provider's host server
- interfacing with our internet host provider staff for technical support and host service contract management
- performing scheduled backups of information on our host server and restoring operational files if need arises
- maintaining documentation of procedures, scheduled tasks, software and techniques used to manage the website
Existing documentation of work tasks and schedules is at a good level. This position requires some word processing and spreadsheet skills, skills using existing tools to manipulate digital photos, experience with using both personal computer and mobile device Internet browser software (Chrome, Firefox, IE).

Mentoring by current members of the Board that have previously held the above positions will be provided to assist transition into the roles.
Please consider and let us know of your interest in any of these positions.   Email :

> 2015 Golf Day & Registration BBQ (posted June 10, 2015)

Golf Day 2015 On Friday afternoon June 5th, we had 11 teams of golfers assembled for a shot gun start in the annual Deer Lodge Golf Day Texas Scramble at the Assiniboine Golf Club. The weather was great for a change, making it quite a nice day out on the course.
The Registration BBQ at the club kicked off after the golf. The big BBQ (courtesy of the Foodfare at Mt Royal & Portage Ave.) was again available for everyone to grill their steaks.
Following dinner the scores were tallied and organizer Doug Mackie announced the winners.  The group of  Mike Mahon, Ian Mahon, Blair Smith and Kevin Exell were judged as the team with the lowest net score.
After all the completed curling application forms were processed there was a lengthy elimination draw to see who was the last man standing for the free membership for 2015-16.  Congratulations to Reg Sims who skips a team on Thursday night.
A large thank you goes to Doug Mackie for organizing the day... and to Jody & Paige at the bar.
Click on the photo above to view pictures taken on  the course and in the lounge.
The club wishes to thank all those that came out to golf or attend the BBQ as the registration funds help keep paying the bills over the summer.

> 2014 Semi Annual Meeting   (posted June 8, 2015)

While preparing to post the highlights of the May 19  2015 Annual Meeting of the Deer Lodge Curling Club it was noticed that we neglected to post the highlights of last fall's Semi Annual meeting.  The latter took place on Thursday October 2, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in the upstairs lounge of the club. It is old news but may still be of interest to some.
See meeting highlights.

> Website Service Outage   (posted May 20, 2015)

The Deer Lodge Curling Club website had been out of service since the middle of last weekend due to some changes made on our server by our web hosting service provider.
Adjustments have been made at their location to get us back up, but not without some work to be done on our behalf.
A large part of the information on our website has had to be reorganized and some of that work is still in progress.
You might have to click on the reload or refresh icon on your browser when you look at the web pages.
