DLCC MCT Men's Bonspiel (posted
Dec 15, 2011)
This winter, the Deer
Lodge curling club will host its first Manitoba Curting Tour event. The
MCT men's bonspiel will be held January 12-15,2012.
The club is looking for sponsors to help out with the event. Consider
this a great opportunity to support Deer Lodge and competitive curling
in Manitoba. We're seeking sponsorships in the amount of $250 to help
cover costs of running the spiel. As with all MCT events, 100 percent
of the entry fees must go back into prize money. Sponsorship
includes advertising privileges at the club during the spiel. As
well, all sponsors and teams will be treated to a lunch at the club on
Saturday, January 14 during a Winnipeg Jets game. Sponsors will be
acknowledged at this social event, and they will have a chance to
interact with the competitors.
The format of the bonspiel is a 16-team triple knockout, with an entry
fee of $300. The playoff round will be held Sunday, January 15 with
eight qualifiers. Our hope is to build the spiel into one of the
premiere events on the Manitoba Curling Tour.
lf you're interested in sponsoring the event, please contact Sean
Grassie at 250-3873 or seangrassie@hotmail.com, or Scott Madams at
291-6135 or scottmadams@shaw.ca

DLCC Junior Fun Bonspiel Canceled (posted
Oct 5, 2011)
The popular annual
Junior Bonspiel will not be taking place this year.
It takes just a huge effort to organize this event every year and the
board wishes to thank Murray Peterson very much for his dedicated
efforts over the last ten years.
The weekend of November 5 and 6 will not go unused. We have
decided to add those dates to our weekend associate league ice
schedules, make some adjustments and free up dates previously scheduled
on April 7,
2012.
This will allow us to shut off the ice plant a week earlier and gain
some benefit from reduced operating expenses.

"Welcome" Newsletter Corrections (posted
Sep 28, 2011)
Every year at this time
there is a large mail out to our Mens' league curlers welcoming
everyone to another year of curling at the club. Thanks to Frank
Mitchell, our chair of Membership & Draw, an error was detected.
The Newsletter that went out this week refers to the start of Mens
League curling on October 11
as being a
Monday.
It should have been shown as TUESDAY. Of course
the Monday that week is October 10 and is Thanksgiving day.
It should be noted that the same error appeared in last year's
newsletter but no one reported it.
--There is another correction to note. It is an update on the
Deer Lodge Icebreaker MJCT bonspiel.
The event will start one day earlier on the evening of Thursday
September 29 due to a greater number of entries than expected.

2011 Golf Day & Registration BBQ (posted June 4, 2011)
 On
Friday June 3rd, 54
golfers made the 1:30 p.m. shot gun start in the annual
Deer Lodge Golf Day Texas Scramble at the Assiniboine Golf
Club. The
sun was
bright, the temperature balmy and the wind brisk enough to keep the
scores from getting too low. This
was a most pleasant change from last year's miserable down pour !
After golf, George
Smith and Wayne Buckle worked the
big BBQ (courtesy of Custom Truck Sales) preparing delicious
steaks for all those at the Registration BBQ.
Following dinner the
scores
were tallied and organizer Frank Mitchell announced the
winners :
The low net team score for the day, a
respectable 7 under par 65, was turned in by the group of Ian
Mahon, Mike Mahon, Blair Smith and Gary Lagace.
Lagace also won the prize for
the longest drive of the day on hole number 12.
The most
honest team (with
the highest net score
) was the Hart Kapitoler, Gord Fingland, Bruce McBeth & Ian Brown
team of Past Presidents. They handed in a score of plus 7
over par 79.
Closest to the pin honors went to Bob Pattie for his shot on the par
three 13th hole.
Door
prizes were then drawn for all present followed
by the draw
for the free membership.
All the completed curling application forms
were shuffled for the random selection. The
lucky winner's namewas Peter
Todman.
A large thank you goes to Frank Mitchell & his crew for
organizing the day
and to Jody & Shirley at the bar.
