Changes re Tax Deductible Donations (posted
Aug 13, 2010)
The Deer
Lodge Curling Club welcomes donations to the club to help enhance
our facilities and programs. The club cannot directly issue tax
receipts to individuals. However, there is a process
whereby donations of $100 or more made to the Canadian Curling
Association (CCA) will get you a tax
receipt and then reach the club in the form of grants we request from
their Curling Club Development Fund.
For individuals who have participated in the past, please note
that the CCA has asked for some minor changes to the content of the
cover letter attached with the cheque/money order.

2010 Golf Day & Registration BBQ (posted June 11, 2010)
Fifteen groups
teed off at 1 p.m. on Friday June 11th at the Assiniboine Golf
Club for our annual Deer Lodge Golf Day. Once again
it was a Texas scramble format.
Not all groups chose to finish as a downpour hit the already
soggy course at about the halfway point.
After golf back at the Lodge, our chef for the evening George
Smith fired up the
big BBQ ( courtesy of Custom Truck Sales). He did a great
job with the steaks preparing them to our individual
tastes.
Curling applications for the 2010-11 season were collected throughout
the evening.
After dinner all the scores were tallied and emcee Dan
Sul announced the
winners.
The low net team score for the day, an
unbelievable 12 under par 60, was turned in by the Brent Mackie
group. On the team with Brent were Gary Lacey, Garry Cornelson
and Gerry Bell. Cornelson also won the prize for
the longest drive of the day on hole number 3. To top
it off they also inflicted damage to the Assiniboine Club House when
one of the group sculled a lob wedge on the 9th hole sending the ball
through one of the windows in the bar area.
The team with the highest net score (and the most
honest) was the Colin McLachlan group. Helping to achieve
that recognition were Jack & Jim Gordon, Dan Gagne and Al
Titheridge.
Closest to the pin honours went to Scott Hanson for his shot on the par
three 4th hole.
Door
prizes were handed out next followed by the draw
for the free membership.
All the curling applications received to date were shuffled by
Brent before getting Colin to make the random selection.
The
lucky winner drawn was Wayne Buckle.
Thanks go to Dan Sul & crew for organizing the event
and to Jody & Shirley at the bar.
